How do I go out with friends/family/business associates to restaurants if I eat this way?

Most restaurants now offer vegetarian and vegan options.  Simply ask!  And, if they don’t, then it’s time to be creative!  Look at the menu.  Do you notice that some dishes are served with pasta, some with rice, and some with other grains?  And do you see that there are various vegetables mentioned in the descriptions of different dishes?  Ask your server what the chef or cook can make for you using this grain or that pasta with those veggies – and to use olive oil (or some other vegetable oil), and herbs and spices for seasonings.  You will be surprised!

Sure, sometimes I’ve had a meal that simply fit the bill and was ok – and sometimes I’ve had meals that have created envy among my tablemates!  Sometimes the chef has come out to ask how I liked it, and to say that it was fun to be creative and cook something different!

Even a steak house has baked potatoes (which you can stuff with steamed veggies), salads and plant-based salad dressings, and perhaps more.  Any restaurant can create a plate of steamed veggies.  As with most things in life, ask, and you are very likely to get what you choose!
