A vegan (vee-gun) diet is one that is free of all animals and animal by-products. Vegans “CHOOSE” not to eat flesh, fish, dairy, eggs or honey. If this sounds incredibly restrictive, please continue reading! The truth? Consuming a vegan diet is not about sacrifice! It’s about eating delicious food that is fun, fresh, filling, comforting, economical and socially responsible.
Like most vegans, I eat a greater variety of food on a plant-based/vegan diet than I ever did when I ate animals and animal by-products. Don't ask a vegan about what they choose NOT to eat (animals and animal-by-products). Instead, ask them about the food they eat. I think you'll be surprised by what you learn.
I never enjoyed cooking before eliminating animals from my diet. Today, I love to cook although I'm certainly not a "chef." I am a mom and a wife. I have a MBA and a law degree and I promote plant-based/vegan diets.
We all want to share good things with our families, friends and others. That is how I feel about a plant-based/vegan diet. I am so convinced of the benefits of an animal-free or vegan diet (for the animals, our planet and our own well-being) that I want to share these benefits with everyone.
I was introduced to veganism before I really wanted to change my dietary habits. I suppose I resisted because changing old habits often requires you to leave your comfort zone. My decision to explore more plant-based foods began for health reasons; however, the more I learned about the horrific suffering that my eating habits were causing factory farm animals, the cruelty became something I could no longer disregard.
I believe most people are good, and as we become more aware of the brutality and suffering inflicted on the animals we eat, we will make more animal-friendly dietary choices. And, as an extra benefit, plant-based diets are delicious and so much better for our health and our planet.
We should all learn about the impact our dietary choices have on our health, our planet and on the creatures that share this planet with us.
I encourage you to explore the VegansEatWhat.com website. Please share it with others and utilize the recipes, resources and information you will find. If you are vegan, share what you eat with others. And if you are not, let us show you how tantalizing, tasty and diverse vegan food really is and how easy it is to eat an animal-free diet!
All the best,
